Introducing some needles sizes to you in this photo. The needles with the orange handle are very small and are used for auricular acupuncture. Auricular acupuncture is a fairly recent discovery and is based on the findings from a French neurologist called Dr Nogier in the 1960s. Dr Nogier discovered that the ear is a map of the entire body and by stimulating the specific points in the outer ear it can be use to treat the corresponding body parts.
It gathered momentum in the 70s in the Bronx to get drug and alcohol addicts away from their poison and back on their feet. The NADA protocol was born, it became the recipe that was followed and still is for health and general well being.
Auricular acupuncture was so successful that other protocols have been discovered and it has now found its way into all walks of life including the Army- with Battlefield acupuncture, hospitals for pre and post surgery benefits and therapists for musculo skeletal pain, hay fever and migraines.
